I changed all my "Add fret (number) to TAB" to 'F,(number)' and thus I can use the short cuts:
1 - whole Note
2 - half Note
4 - quarter note
8 - eighth note
6 - sixteenth note
3,2 - thirty (you get the idea?)
6,4
1,3
1= is a breve
.2 - '..'
.3 - '...'
.,4 - '....'
And musescore reset to default on me :(
I didn't restart I just went away and came back and it changed after I already started using the new systemshort cuts I designed.
etc...

What operating system do you use. You probably don't have write permission for MuseScore to the directory where the shortcuts are stored.

I have windows 10 64 bit - it's managed by my work so it's given me 8 years of grief with Sibelius 7 and so I thought I would give musescore a better shot. I'm starting to get used to it and i have customised it in some way, It's really impressed me generally.
You should have permission to write to your user directory, which is where your shortcuts are stored.
From the Handbook:
The other preferences (palettes, session, shortcuts, workspaces...) are in:
C:\Users[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\MuseScore\MuseScore3\ (actually %LOCALAPPDATA%\MuseScore\MuseScore3)
Talk to your IT and ensure MuseScore has permission to write to this directory so it can save your customizations. If this doesn't fix your problem, then someone else will need to get involved in this because MuseScore should save your shortcuts when you successfully close the program. I don't believe custom shortcuts are saved at any other time.
I'll add that I was ready to fork out way too much money for another notation program when I discovered version 2.0.3 of this program and was very impressed with its ease of use and features. There are a lot of people here willing to help make this a better experience for you.

Hello, this is happening to me since I have a new laptop and I need to re adapt the shortcuts. Musescore has all permissions, and I run it as admin. I save the shortcut overwriting the one by default on C:\Users[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\MuseScore\MuseScore3, and when restarting the program, settings go back to default.
Has anyone found a solution for this problem?
Help please.
if you modify that shortcuts.xml outside MuseScore, while MuseScore is running, MuseScore will write its one back, so don't do that.
You image shows the permission of the desktop link and that one only. And running it as Admin is not needed at all.
First revert to factory settings, then change shortcuts via Edit > Preferences > Shortcuts, Quite and restart MuseScore and your shortcuts should still be there

Hello and thank you very much for your reply.
Musescore has all permisions in all users. I change the settings as you say, edit -> preferences -> shortcuts. I edit them there. I restart the program and they don't save. I have tried all sorts of things but nothing works. I have the latest version 3.3.4.9066
Any ideas please?
Update - I have reverted to factory settings:

And it is sorted for me. Good luck!
