musescore keeps crashing at bar 100

• Mar 6, 2020 - 11:18

please tell me how I can find where the error is in my musescore file which keeps crashing at bar 100.
I've submitted crash reports but can't find where they are stored on my pc.#
The crash only happens on playback from the beginning - playing from part way through will not cause it to crash.
Your online help suggests that Musescore will give details of which bar the crash happened but I've been shown nothing. uploading to the website plays the song perfectly but playing on the application (Windows 10) causes it to crash every time at bar 100.
I've deleted dozens of bars, but the error cannot be at bar 100 (or bars 90 - 108) as i've deleted them all and rewritten it but it still keeps crashing.
I'd be grateful if you could point me in the right direction for finding the error, or at least finding the crash report.
Thanks.

The causes may be diverse, known or not yet known. This is why it is important to attach the score, not only for you, but for other users who would encounter the same issue (and so, in the aim to fix it) . It is safe to attach the score here, no problem, and you can remove it in one or two hours if you want. Again, without seeing and testing the score, we are reduced to guessing things.

Just trying to clarify what this line means:

"OS: Windows 10 (10.0), Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (32-bit)" from an earlier post.

The MuseScore 64 bit msi is labled "x86_64". MuseScore in the Microsoft store that I see is 64 bot only.

And, sure, running 32 bit on a 64 bit system shouldn't crash. But you never know.

I understand your reluctance to post your score, but we really do need to be able to reproduce the crash on our development computers to be able to fix it.

How about this: Make a copy of your score. Try deleting as much music as possible from your it while still being able to reproduce the crash, and then post that stripped-down copy of your score here.

Hi, thanks everyone for your comments.

I made a copy as you suggested, and tried deleting various parts e.g. all bass clef or all treble clef, but no matter what I did, I couldn't recreate the error. I even went through all my old copies of the file (I'd made 3 backups of my own), but even playing them through unchanged, the error had disappeared.

In fact all versions of the file play ok now so I can't do anything else until I get the error back.

If I can get the error back in any form, I'll post it on here. Thanks again.
