The problem is that suddenly the score moves to the left and part of it is hidden by the palettes. I have to drag it back again and find my original place. This problem can occur when I click on a rest to put on a note or if I happen to use the space bar. In fact, I can spasmodically lose my place at any time. It was especially bad after I installed the plugin "Courtesy Accidentals" so I removed it. The occurrence was lesser but still it did not stop the problem altogether. I am left with this huge black section on the right of my screen, which serves no purpose; and you can image how time-consuming it is to drag the score back into place each time when required.

Title Ian Page jumps to the left of screen

The problem is that suddenly the score moves to the left and part of it is hidden by the palettes. I have to drag it back again and find my original place. It can occur when I click on a rest to put on a note or if I happen to use the space bar. In fact it seems to randomly occur at any time. It was especially bad after I installed the plugin "Courtesy Accidentals" so I removed it. After doing so, the occurrence was less but still it did not stop the problem altogether. I am left with this huge black section on the right of my screen, which serves no purpose; and you can image how time-consuming it is to drag the score back into place each time when required.

If the score is hidden by the palette, this to me suggests you probably accidentally undocked the palette, so it is floating on top of your score instead of fixed in place at the side of the window. Drag it back to the docking area at the side to put it back where it normally belongs.

FWIW, nothing about installing that plugin could possibly relate to this, that was probably a coincidence.

I did mention an option to turn on to prevent the "huge black section ... which serves no purpose". It is called "Limit scroll area to page borders", and it is located in the "Canvas" tab of the Preferences window. Also, there is another option to prevent the score from shifting automatically. It is located in the toolbar, and it has a tooltip that reads "Pan score automatically". It is on by default, but it can be turned off in the event that it leads to undesirable behavior.
