FluidR3 Mono & FluidR3 GM
Is the default sound font “FluidR3 Mono” different from the sound font “FluidR3 GM” which I found at online handbook’s sound font list?

I both listened to, and FluidR3 GM is slightly louder than FluidR3 Mono,
but basically both sounds same.

FluidR3 Mono is also stereo.
The samples, however, have been mixed down to mono where appropriate so they can be placed properly within the stereo soundstage.
This has the additional benefit of making the soundfont smaller :)
The one we ship has a number of improvements as well. I think it was made mono because it was determined the stereo wasn't particularly effective but I'm not so sure about the details m

AFAIR the stereo version didn't pan, it didn't make the right speaker silent when panning to the left and vice versa.
