A grace note to normal note tie in note entry mode adds a spurious note

Go into note entry mode and simply create a note at the beginning of a bar. Then add an acciaccatura ([/]). Now add a tie between the acciaccatura and normal note ([Shift] + [+]).

Result: The tie is created as normal but an extra (normal) note is also created.
