I suggest to estimate the complexity of supporting autoplacement for such harmonic symbols in tabs.

In this case it will definitly not work. Using staff text to add brackets to a note head is not portable. I suggest using note head parentheses (see note head palette) for this purpose. Maybe we can extend the number of bracket types to enable the desired look.
