I'm running Ubuntu 12.04LTS with Dream Studio packages. Tried it with actual 4d17135.
When splitting an empty bar MS crashes. I tried it even with the example "Bilder einer Ausstellung".
It doesn't make sense to split an empty bar but MS shouldn't crash when someone tries it.
