Well, the OP said it used to work differently, implying a regression. As far as I know the other issue described the way it has always been. Could someone more familiar with the feature play with it to see if there really seems to have been some sort of regression?

But since I do not understand what it was supposed to fix (or improve?), I do not know (and I will not have time to check at this moment) if it could be related?
I worked out it was my own fault I had it on basic so when I clicked advanced it all worked as it should. thanks for all the comments, if nothing else it made me take a better look at what I was doing.

Rechecked the feature in 2.1 and nothing new to report.
