I installed MuseScore from the Windows Store (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/musescore-2/9p0cnr9rwzsx). When I try to open a .mscz file, the "How do you want to open this file?' list doesn't include MuseScore. In Settings\Apps\Default apps\Set defaults by app (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\Set Default Programs), MuseScore is not listed at all.

The end result is that there is no way to set the file association of .mscz files to the Windows Store version of MuseScore short of some obscure and complicated registry tweakery.

Comments

Musescore is messed up on Windows Store. I had same issue with file association. I uninstalled and re-installed a clean program directly downloaded from Musescore web site. It seem to fix file issue association. Folks at Musescore needs to contact Microsoft Soft Store and get a good program to them.

@Jojo We still have to learn a lot on how the Windows Store works. First we need to find a way to see which version is installed on your system. Second, we need to be aware that there might be several stores. You might be linked to the German one, while others may be linked to another. We don't know yet how fast app update get propagated to the different stores. So saying that things don't work is not conclusive I'm afraid.

I have 2.1.0.0 (just found that out now in Store/Downloads and Updates), which should be the one lasconic put up yesterday. Seems a German stolre, at least large parts of it are in German and MuseScore is classified as USK 0 (rather than ESRB in the US page)

Status (old) active fixed

Ah, yes, I miss-remembered... So let's mark it fixed (again) and check when 2.1.1.0 becomes available in the store
