Ledger lines for chords with a second are too long

In the score attached (1.3), the two first chords contains two notes a second apart. The ledger line for the out of staff notes are too long.

I might be wrong, but for the first chord in bar 10, does the ledger line left of the stem (for the B) seem a different length to the one on the right (for the C)?
