This behavior is not universally adhered too. The current code at least displaces the accidental to avoid the ledger line. Eventually we may wish to implement the shortened ledger line, though, so I am leaving this open, with a note that if we do use the shortened ledger line, we should revisit how much extra space (if any) we need for accidentals
