Project

1. Create 6-str full tablature score.
2. Enable 'Note Entry'.

Result: The rest is greyed out on the toolbar.

Using MuseScore 2.0 Nightly Build (02d7b91) - Mac 10.7.5.

Comments

This possible only if the staff property is set to 6 strings Full. For Simple and common, the rests are only displayed in the normal staff over the tab. See example above.

I guess chenlung is not talking about seeing the rests but entering them. For example, it's quite hard to enter 8th rest, 8th note in tablature?

I reset my Preferences.

The rest is still greyed out upon enabling 'Note Entry'.

When hovering over the icon, I can't see a shortcut for it.

FWIW, the shortcut to enter a rest is ";". How you'd discover that except by perusing preferences is another matter. The toolbar rest indeed is not active. Not sure that's a bug in itself, since the toolbar rest is only used in entering notes by mouse, and tablature pretty much requires keyboard entry unless you plan to play nothing but open strings. But a more easily discoverable way to enter rests would be nice.

Thanks for that!

Well, the fact that the quickest way is using the keyboard is true for most programs, but does not mean that the mouse is prohibited.
