Hairpins or crescendos and decrescendos

• Jul 30, 2017 - 18:56

I finished inputting a music arrangement my father had made when he was alive. However, I discovered that I accidentally duplicated some measures and tried to delete them. I soon discovered that a couple of hairpins (crescendos and decrescendos) appeared at the bottom of the page (not inside the any of the measures), and now I tried repeatedly to delete them but cannot. How can I fix this problem? My music is fine. If I deleted the whole page and tried to amend lets say 21 measures to finish rewriting those measures that I deleted, the hairpins appear at the bottom of the page and I can't delete them. It's annoying and I don't know what to do. Anybody have a solution what to do? I don't want to start all over by deleting the whole music arrangement.

That hairpins (and other elements) dragged off the page they have their anchor on can't get selected is a known issue.
Workaround: add a hairpin, rightclick it, select all similar, delete.

Or, if there are other hairpins you want to keep (as I'm guessing there are), instead of deleting them all, hit Ctrl+R to reset them to the default positions. The phantom ones will return to their proper pages and you can then delete just those. And then reapply any manual adjustments you might need to the others. Or, you could make a mental note of which measures the phantom hairpins belong to, undo the Ctrl+R, then just select the measures in question and do the Ctrl+R again.

Additionally, you might be able to select those hairpins if you use continuous mode; as they can't go 'off-page' then.
