cannot enter notes using mouse in staff below an invisible staff
I've inserted the score I'm working on. bethena-26.
If I present the Note Insert Mode button (in the top left) to go into node insert mode,
then mouse-over the top staff (the Oboe staff) it woks as expected, highlighting in blue the note it intends to insert. However, as I move over the other three staffs, I see it either does nothing or displays 24 or 25 ledger lines as if it is inserting a very low note in the top staff.
I'm using the following version. which I downloaded today
25bc366

I don't quite get how a score can have 4 instruments, but 7 parts?
Did you create that score with 25bc366, or just opened it today with it?
See my comment on parts in #25470: corrupted file. I think that's actually the key here. The staves that have problems are the ones below the invisible staves. Go to Instruments, mark the rest of the staves visible, and mouse input works again.
I've updated the issue title to reflect this. Note it's only mouse entry that is affected; ordinary keyboard entry works fine.
Ah, I forgot that you can now mark instruments invisible, that explains why I only saw 4 instruments, but 7 (or even 10) parts.
And 1.x had a similar problem with 'hide empty staves'
Hi Jojo, yes I find the ability to hide certain instruments a useful features. In my case I'm scoring a piece to perform. The performance instruments will be Oboe, Oboe d'amore, and English Horn. And either a Bassoon or Baritone Oboe or both. I regularly change the visibility of the instruments to make sure that with just 3 instruments, there is sufficient musical harmony etc.
Another reason I often make instruments invisible is for swapping purposes. For example if I want to exchange some notes within a measure, or an entire measure, or several measures between two instruments, e.g., between oboe and english horn. There does not seem to be an easy way to do this. So I do the following.
1. have an unused interment reserved just for swapping purposes (I use the A clarinet for this)
2. make A clarinet visible
3. cut the notes from the oboe using CMD-x
4. paste into the A clarinet with CMD-v
5. cut from the english horn with CMD-x
6 paste into the oboe with CMD-v
7. cut from A clarinet with CMD-x
8. paste into english horn with CMD-v
9. make A clarinet invisible again.
It would be nice if there were some way to exchange some of the notes between two given instruments. I noticed there is a future to exchange two instruments, but as I understand this exchanges the entire score of the two instruments, not just the selected notes.
