MS has suddenly slowed considerably.
Over the past week or so commands are taking a much longer time to enact, including note/chord entry/removal, moving text, printing and others.

In order to help, we'd need you to attach the score you are having trouble with and give steps to reproduce the problem.
It's possible the score in question will turn out to have corruptions such as thousands of spurious extra slurs (there have been bugs that can cause this behavior). Or if we can't reproduce any problem, it could be some other process on your computer hogging the CPU, so do be sure to check Task Manager.

So, you see the problem even with the default empty score? If so, then it seems likely to be something else on your system hogging the CPU or otherwise interfering. Have you tried looking at the Task Manager?
and ... have you already tried https://musescore.org/en/handbook/revert-factory-settings ?
does some service run in the background? (eg a new antivirus)

I'm concerned to run this as I think it may remove some of my tailoring.
You are a former member of this forum.
You know the old navigator problem. (It resolved when the size changed a little).
This is probably not the cause of the problem.
Even if it is a small possibility, I wanted to remind you.

Thanks, I have not used the navigator since I discovered shift/scroll wheel, early on.
