Still Main Bug on Version 1.3 and Mavericks

• May 31, 2014 - 12:50

Hi there,

although there were some updates on Mavericks since my last entry here I still have a problem which makes it impossible to work with Musescore anymore.

When I grab a page and drag it the notes become blurry and it looks as if one is drunk or worse:-).

It's the only app I have here installed on my Macbook Pro which seems to be unable to work with Mavericks.

Can anyone help? What about the other Macbook Pro Late 2013 Users? Anything similar happening to you?

Thanks in advance and cheers!
K.

It's the latest Mavericks...

What do you mean with "same problems with a recent nightly build"?

I don't have any other problems concerning Mavericks with none of my other apps. That's what it makes it so strange.
Are there any settings within Mavericks which allow me to run Musescore so that I can work with it properly?

It's really not possible to use Musescore at this stage....

Thanks for your help!
I appreciate it!!!

Fantastic....just downloaded and installed it...and at first test the bugs dont appear like on 1.3 etc...
THANK YOU!

I will let you know if there are other bugs...

It even looks better than the 1.3. to me.

Cheers!

Yes, it's clearly not just a problem with MuseScore and Mavericks, but something else specific about this particular system - an three-way interaction between Mavericks, MuseScore, and the some *other* component installed. Perhaps some component you never use, which would exaplain why you don't see the problem anywhere else.

It's good the problem doesn't exist with a nightly build, but do take those warnings seriously. It is entirely possible that scores you create with a nightly build today will no longer open correctly (or at all) by the time 2.0 actually comes out. Work done with a nightly build might be work you have to throw away.

I still suspect a graphics card issue of some kind probably with Qt.

Can I just add my caveat to Marc's and JoJo's.

Make sure you religiously back up everything you do in the development version of MuseScore 2 in MusicXML format.

This will ensure that you will be able to open it in future versions of MuseScore 2

it does look graphics related. But what's odd to me is, this is a Mac we're talking about - which I'd have thought meant the hardware & driver were all under Apple's control. Hard for me to see how the issue coul affect just one Mac uer.
