How much time do you spend, on average, to compose a song? I need a total of about 8 hours to compose a three-minute song. And you? :)

For me it's all over the map. I once wrote a one minute song in about 1 minute 10 seconds - it literally flowed out of my fingers fully formed. Another piece of music I spent a week on about 30 seconds worth.

Agreed. I've done very limited writing, but I side with what Captain Kirk said in the 1960s Star Trek series:
"Genius doesn't run on an assembly line. You can't just wake up in the morning and say. 'Today I'm going to be brilliant'." It often takes me hours just to get one phrase correct.

I started a tune about 4 months ago. After the idea struck me, I worked daily for about 2 months, trying to find exactly how it wanted to resolve.

About 5 weeks ago, another new tune demanded attention, and I was sidetracked for a few days, following it.

After a few days, I returned to the first tune, but about 4 days later yet another tune elbowed its way in. It appeared in a much more complete form than the other 2 and I have worked on all 3 since.

Today, I believe I have finally found the finished realization for the 3rd tune ( I will know by tomorrow), and the other 2 are quite close to completion, hence my answer.

Have a great day.
