1) Create a score let's say for piano, guitar, ukulele and bass
2) Export in XMLmusic format. You get: xml export.mxl

3) Right-click on the differents staffs/instruments.
Expected result: eg for guitar in Usable pitch range: E2 -> B5

Current result (and for ALL instruments): C-1 / G9, ie the complete pitch range supported in the program.

The aftermath : problem for fretted instruments which may receive TAB staffs.
Indeed, try to change staff type of ukelele (or guitar, or bass) : you cannot.

The only and unforeseen way is to change instrument (so, for the same(s) ) in Staff properties to recover the appropriate pitch range of the instruments, and to can change now the staff type, ie TAB staff for involved instruments, guitar, ukulele, bass and so on, for fretted instruments.

Comments

I'm not sure there is any way to record the string data in the MusicXML file on export. However, it probably shouldn't be necessary - we should probably recognize the instrument and use our own data on import. There wouldn't be a way to capture non-standard tunings, but it would at least allow standard tunings to work.
