FYI - Musescore downloaded without install wizard...

...nor was there a terms agreement to check. It just popped onto my desktop and Mr Hess began his welcome tour when I clicked on the arrow.

Comments

The welcome tour is not part of of MuseScore, so this has nothing to do with MuseScore installing. The tour is simply YouTube videos accessing via the web. So I think you must have accidentally clicked on a link in your web browser, and probably MuseScore did not install at all. If you see something on your desktop, perhaps you inadvertently hit the Save" button while viewing a web page, which causes the web page itself to save to your computer. In fact, I'm almost certain that must be it.

Thank you for your reply.
It is likely I clicked something. I was reading the install page on the web - the part which explains the function of the wizard in successive steps when Musescore 2.3.2 popped on the screen over the web page. I had downloaded from this very page...upper left, under downloads / software/ windows 7 or higher (I have 10). It downloaded not to program x86 files as I expected from the install wizard page, but to documents.
I went ahead and put an icon in my taskbar and have already been working on my first musescore score.
Could this not be a valid copy? If not, from where did it come? (cue: Twilight Zone theme).
I'm not up to savvy on PCs. I've been composing since the analog days and this new stuff confounds me, so it's likely I goofed...but what copy of musescore am I working with???
BTW - I'm impressed with the software.

It's perfectly normal that downloading doesn't go to Program Files. that folder is where files get installed to, but you should not normally download there.. your browser picks a default location for downloads. Usually it's Downloada on Windows but that's not anything we have control over.

Hard to say much more without.standing over your shoulder. Maybe best to find someone more computer-savvy who lives near you to come over and help.

After 7 completed scores, Musescore 2.3.2 just installed! I searched my PC for something and saw a Musescore icon, clicked on it and the Wizard popped up. I clicked install and now it is finally in Program Files (x86). I don't even want to consider what I did when I d/l'd it in the first place. No, sir.
And yet it worked fine without it being installed?
