Can not enter notes
MuseScore 2 has stopped allowing me to enter ANY notes. I've tried everything. I write rhythmic assessments on a single line and have written 87 already, but it just stopped allowing me to enter notes of any duration. I've done all the fixit steps. The blue box appears, a blue note appears, but no matter how many times I click the staff, nothing happens. Keyboard entry, the same.

Check which note input mode is selected. The default is Step-time note entry.

I did that. It is disturbing that NOWHERE is there mention (and it took me 55 minutes to figure this out), that before you can enter notes you must go TO THE BOTTOM of the page and click on the note....then you can write on the score. Instructions WAAAAY overthought.

Your comment make no sense. If you're using the keyboard, click where you want to start entering notes and press N. If you use the mouse, just press N and scroll so you can see the place you want the note and click. see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/note-input#starting-position

Hmm, when you mention going to the bottom of the page to click something, this suggests to me that you are actually entering drum notation. This is most certainly documented in the Handbook under that section. My guess is you were reading only the section on standard notation, where that special palette doesn't exist. There are a number of special aspects of how drum notation works that makes an approach like this necessary (consider, just clicking on the staff doesn't tell MuseScore which sound you want to use, which notehead, etc).
