OS: openSUSE Leap 15.0, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.0.0.19803, revision: 266e19c

Use for example attached file.

1) Change the decrease the sliders for volume control of any channel. Actual result: It doesn't have any effect for playback.

2) Select "mute" or "solo" for one or several channels, it isn't possible to adjust it for a particular instrument (at least for the first channel next to the instrument without affecting "mute" or "solo" for the instrument ) and don't work properly in playback.

3) Change the volume settings for one or several channels, it isn't possible to adjust it for a particular instrument (at least for the first channel next to the instrument without affecting the volume for the instrument) and don't work properly in playback.

That score doesn't have any staff text that via its properties assigns voices to channels. Try the attached.
2.x works exactly the same, only the mixer looks different and the Closed Score SATB templates that come along with it don't have these channels...

Yes it works. But there are two things I notice. One the one hand, If I select for example "solo" for soprano or tenor it also highlights solo of the instrument. The same for the sliders of soprano and tenor (it changes both).
Further I used the closed score from the template folder for the attached file. In my opinion it will be confusing the user, to see and change settings inside the mixer without any effect. So maybe the templates should be updated (if it's possible at all)?

The templates do have those staff texts, the problem is that when creating a score from a template via the New Score Wizard, all measures of the templates get deleted and with that the staff text too (but not the channel definitions). So yes, this might be confusing, but currently is as good as it can get. It in this particular case more a workaround rather than a real fix, which would involve the ability to really mute/solo/volume control individual voices (1-4, not human voices). That workaround just uses the mechanisms already in place like for example for violin or trumpet, which too need a staff text to do the assigning, but there to achieve different sounds, arco/pizzicato/tremolo, resp. open/mute.
Can comment on what those sliders do, can only confirm that they do as you describe,

I didn't thought about it with this issue (and it's clear for me), that it's necessary to add and adjust a staff text for pizzicato, tremolo, muted trumpet and so on. Maybe because it's clear documented inside the handbook and there exist a howto. But one difference is that these midi settings (?) are possible inside the same voice, no further 'voice' is necessary.
So therefore maybe for the closed score template from scratch it should be also clear documented inside the handbook or inside a how to. I'm curious, if it will be confusing for new users in future.
Maybe for a future design it's possible for this special case (template) that MuseScore will create via the New Score Wizard besides number of measures, time signature, key signature and so on the necessary staff text for adjusting these channels too.

Note: In this meaning, it's a feature request ;-)?
