The algorithm for "LH Guitar Fingering" has been changed in 3.0-dev, which breaks the original custom placement of fingering in imported 2.x scores. In fact, both fingering styles will be needed in MS 3. One possible solution: rename the 3.0-dev "LH Guitar Fingering" to "LH Guitar Fingering A"; and import the old 2.x "LH Guitar Fingering" under the name "LH Guitar Fingering B"?

Not a bad suggestion. The original algorithm was odd and not sustainable in how it did its job (making its adjustments to user offset rather than just making it the default position) but if it can be incorporated into the autoplace using a new style rule, that could make sense.

Still, in general, it is not going to be practical to re-implement all layout algorithms from MuseScore 2, It's just going to have to be taken as a given that if you want your layout preserved exactly, you will need to keep the score in MuseScore 2. So, it's not a bug in itself that manual positioning is no longer valid, But it is a good suggestion for this particular case where it does seem feasible and worthwhile to try to address this.
