After dragging, staff distance increases even if symbol returns to former position

See the attached score. Click on a right hand fingering in measure 2, drag it well below the staff and then release it.
Expected result: The fingering returns to position.
Actual result: The fingering returns to its expected position, but the staff distance increases.
