1) New score for acoustic guitar: standard staff
2) Enter notes in the two first measures
3) "I"
4) Select Staff 1
5) Add linked staff
6) Change type to Tab 6-str. simple
7) OK
8) At this step, the system seems locked. If you press a key (C, D, etc.), nothing happens.

But If you use the mouse, and clic on a staff: Crash

Comment:
- no crash if you exit note entry mode after the step #2

- OR, if, at the step #8, you exit note entry mode (press N key), and return immediatly after in note entry mode (re-press N key)

I did not meet the crash until now, because having always the habit to go out the note entry mode before adding any linked staff.

Comments

The blocked system occurs just at the step #7 (Ok). Because, this action disables precisely at that time the Voice 1 (see attachment).

So instead of press N key twice (exit and return in Note entry mode) at the step #8, simply re-activate Voice 1 or 2 ... to recover a correct behavior.
It's a workaround, not a fix, I know it.

To be clear, at step 2, upon entering notes into the measures, the key to triggering this bug is to *not* exit note entry mode. You must still be in note entry mode when you press "I" - and remains in note entry mode after adding the new staff - in order to see this crash.

The easy fix is presumably to force note entry mode off upon opening the Instruments dialog. But that might just mask whatever the problem is, so I'll leave it to someone else to investigate further.

I agree, absolutely (and that's why I opened this new report)

As said earlier, I had never encountered this bug before, because having always made a habit going out of the note entry mode (end to step#2 ) before adding linked staves, and activate again this note entry mode at the end of the process.

It was a habit, simply, I don't know why!

So thanks for having a different approach which has lead to point this question.

NB: I also confirm the curious fact (you are referring to the end of the comment # 1 of the other issue related: http://musescore.org/en/node/29241) occurs after this operation, "Up": some measure numbers inappropriate come adding to the score, and it is impossible to remove them (just make invisible)
