Barlines are now applied by single-clicking from a palette, rather than double-clicking as before. Assuming this is an oversight, given that it breaks the double-click rule for all other palette components, and increases the possibility of user error.

I believe this is (meant to be) an improvement
Everything should now apply by single-click, that is indeed one of the main changes in 3.4. Are you seeing cases where something still requires double-click?
