OS: Windows 10 (10.0), Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.4.2.9788, revision: 148e43f
This doesn't just affect imported 2.x files:
Result: Fat, blurry text.
Confirmed. Same in latest development build too
Even though this wasn't a 2.x import, it's still the same issue - as per the comment thread ther,e the issue wasn't only 2.x import. It's just system-dependent. I suspect be fixed if/when the PR for #284218: Broken on-screen rendering of synthetically emboldened fonts is merged.
But look at this! This MuseJazz text I typed out on a new score is clear!

"create one using the New Score Wizard" not really true.
Same score. Looks like by random.
I think the one that looks good is not bold. One systems where this is a problem, that seems to be the trigger. Also seems affected by zoom level apparently. See the comments in the other linked issue.
