I am unable to add notes to my tambourine line in my score. When I attempt to add notes or rhythms to the part, the rests are not replaced. The beat is selected, but nothing else happens.

In order to investigate, we would need you to attach the score you are having problems with, and give precise steps to reproduce the problem. I cannot reproduce a problem when I add a tambourine to one of my one scores.
Do be sure you are in standard step=time note input mode ("N" icon on toolbar) rather than one fo the other special-purpose modes.
