Some apps that have a light and a dark theme, also offer an option to follow the dark mode of the operating system, so that the app switches to dark when the system does so. It could be nice to have that also in MuseScore. So beside "Light" and "Dark", a theme called "System" or "Automatically" could be added.

Comments
This is (or should be) the case since MuseScore 3.2
Reopen if that isn't the case with that or any newer version, and mention which exaxt version of MuseScore and macOS it is
Hm, it does not seem to work. I only see options for dark and light themes, and when I switch the system to dark mode, MuseScore doesn't change. Restarting MuseScore or resetting preferences also does not change anything...
Maybe also relevant: even when I manually set the theme to Dark, the top bar, containing the window title, stays light.
I am using MuseScore 3.5 (downloaded from MuseScore.org) on macOS 10.15.6.
Unfortunately, for some unknown reason, I can't upload a screen recording here... should I send it in the developer chat?
Which version are you using? MuseScore and macOS?
A complete dark mode is not possible, for to stay compatible with the older macOS veesions 10.10 and 10.11 IIRC, @anatoly_os?
I'll try to reproduce tomorrow. Afair, it has been working correctly and automatically switches to dark theme if the dark theme is the current theme on macOS since... 3.2, yes.
See https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/pull/6652 is set to fix this
