This is a Windows-specific report .
- Open the attached file. Enter the "Title" object and place the cursor at the beginning of the line.
- Enter the character code Alt + 0147 (Curly start quotes).
Expected result: Quotes should appear at beginning of word.
Actual result: After the "01", the cursor moves to the end of the line. After "47", the quote appears at the beginning.
- Repeat steps 1 and 2 with Alt codes "0148" (curly end quotes), "0133" (ellipsis), and others, as desired.
Result: Cursor moves to end of line and inserts character there.
The same problem was present in 2.3.2. But I can't recall the same problem in 3.4.2, so this may be a regression in 3.5.

So as long as you don't know better, don't mark as a regression
Also it works here, Windows 7
IIRC you need to use the NumPad for entering those Alt codes, did you?
Workaround: Use the F2 palette
I've checked again with 3.4.2: same problem (so no regression). So the problem appears to be with Win 10, and specifically with MuseScore (no problems with other apps). An observation: Alt + 0147 (start curly quotes) always inserts at the beginning of the line, no matter where the cursor is; any other alt code seems to insert at the end of the line, no matter where the cursor. IIRC, the alt codes were working a few days ago, so perhaps a Win 10 update issue?
I checked with MuseScore 3.3.4 (from Microsoft Store) on Windows 10: no problem there. Neither with 3.5.0 Portable
Did you use NumPad to enter the digits?
Oops. I accidentally turned off the Numlock key. First time for everything …
