1. Open a score with multiple instruments in MuseScore 2.0 Beta 1
2. Go to File > Parts
3. Create new part.
4. Click Ok. Make sure you have the part showing in Program window.
5. Go to File > Save As and save part somewhere as .mscz
6. Close MuseScore 2.0 Beta 1.
7. Open part from where you saved it.
8. Edit anywhere in the part.
9. Save and close MuseScore 2.0 Beta 1.
10. Open part from where you saved it.

Problem: Part did not save your edit.

P.S.- Technically, you don't have to save parts as individual files with MuseScore 2.0 Beta 1. But, it would be smart to be able to if you need to send just the part alone to someone.

You can use : File - > Export parts

you just have to write the "prefix" of every exported part (like sheetmusictitle) and in which format (even PDF or musescore ...) and of course the folder and
it extract all parts in that folder with part name after the prefix, and you can send it ^^

Exporting parts does not have the option for .mscz files, it has .mscx files, which in the export parts window refers to it as "Uncompressed MuseScore Format." In the regular Save As window, it have both options, but refers to both of them as "MuseScore Format." Although I technically don't know the difference between both, it doesn't matter anyhow. I've tried exporting the part as an .mscx, and upon opening it, editing it, saving it, and opening it up again, it had not saved my edit.
So there is still a problem.

Edit: I also forgot to add in the issue description that the score that I'm using was originally a MuseScore 1.3 score that I uploaded to 2.0 beta 1. That may have something to do with the issue, in case someone needs to know this.

Just to know, I don't know if it is linked...
If instead of modifying a part you modify in the score that part and reexport again (eventually just that one, being on the right tab and "Export" (not "Export parts")
does the changes work ?

The gaol to have part linked to the main socre it OBVIOUSLY that : when you modify the score or the linked part (I mean open the whole score and select the part you want to modify and modify it) both are now the same.... (you don't have to switch between file anymore !)

I'm not wanting it linked to the score. The goal I'm trying to achieve is being able to save the part individually, like we have to do in 1.3.

I know with 2.0 beta 1 you can have the score and the parts linked, so when you change one note in the part/score it changes automatically in the part/score. You don't need to save parts individually.

But, if I want to send JUST the part, and not the score and other parts to someone, for whatever the reason may be, then I want to be able to do that. The individual part would have its own file, and would not be linked. And that is what this issue is about.

if you want to send JUST the part, in your score you do
1/ File -> Parts
New all
Ok

then you will have tabs following your score with each parts

2/ File -> Export parts
you chose a prefix and the file format , and the folder in which you want them to save, and then you have a message sounds like "Parts have been exported successfully"

3/ you go to your folder , choose the right part and send it by mail or as you want

Does it work for you , as it works so weell for me ? and I don't want it back as in 1.3 ..... I'm sorry but that so much time gain ^^

Sorry... let me clarify the issue a little more. When a part is saved/exported as an individual .mscz file, you can longer take that file, open it up in Musescore, edit it, save it, and open it up again and see the edit you just made.

I know some people may see it as defeating the purpose of having parts linked directly to the score, but in some instances that I find I may need to do, I still need to be able to have an individual part to open up and edit, separate from the score. And, we should already be able to do that, however there is a bug that needs to be worked out, which is the point of this issue.

Okay,
sorry I misunderstood and thought you just wanting part to be like musescore 1.3 ....
But you said twice it was just to send part individually, not being able to modify then individually before saving them and not modifiyng the score in the same way....
