Album Feature Not Available - What Are My Alternatives?

• Jan 24, 2021 - 21:06

I see the Album feature won’t be available again until version 4 comes out. I need to combine 30 short works (different keys, time signatures, tempi, etc.) into one Musescore file I can print. Some pieces are one-and-a-half pages in length while others are half a page. I’d like the second piece (the half page of music) to begin immediately after the end of the first piece. In other words, I need the page to include both the end of the first piece and the beginning of the second piece. I also need titles, composers, etc. for each piece. Any suggestions as to how I can accomplish this? Thanks in advance for your advice.

You can use the "section break" element (pictured) to create a gap in between parts of a score, which will also start a new measure count for each section.

You can then insert a new vertical frame at the start of the new section, and right click it to add title, composer, etc.. Time signatures, key signatures, and tempos can all be added normally, resulting in this:

I'll also attach the quick example score I made to demonstrate this.

Indeed, this is pretty much exactly what the album feature did for you, just automatically. Kind of a pain to do it for 30 works, but if they are short, and don't contain more lots of internal key or time signature changes, it should take under an hour. Someone once wrote a script to automate this also, you might try searching - but frankly, I suspect it would take longer to search for it and figure out how to get it running than to do just do the job manually.
