Other function keys seem to be working, but F8 keyboard shortcut to bring up inspector menu doesn't work. (On my mac that is Fn + F8 key).

Works for me, Windows 10, so probably macOS specific.

I assume the menu command (under View) still works? What do you see if you check that shortcut in Edit / Preferences / Shortcuts? How about if you reset it to default? Or define a new one?

Could be also some other program on your computer is "stealing" that keystroke,
