1) Download the lates version onto my new MacBook air - M1 (running Big Sur version 11.3.1).

2) After the successful install, I click on the app in app launcher.

3) A dialogue box appears that says "Unable to check for updates; Make sure you are connected to the internet". I am definitely connected to the internet. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, and even restarted my computer several times. The program stops at the dialogue box and won't allow me to actually open the program. Please advise. Thank you for your time.

Okay, I fixed it! I downloaded Rosetta because apparently the silicone chip inside my MacBook (M1 Apple) isn't compatible with apps/software that work with the older Intel chips in previous MacBooks. After I installed Rosetta, the MuseScore app works just fine.
