File suddenly slow to edit/save/load

• Aug 21, 2021 - 16:45

I created a new file this morning added some stuff and at some point it became very slow to work with. e.g operations takes anywhere from 1/2 minute to several minutes. Its only 2 pages/34 measures, so size is not the problem. Other files are fine, so I think this file got corrupted. I restarted the machine, no change.

What can you suggest to check?

I unzipped the file (expanded to 65 MB). There are 2,477,058 lines in the file, mostly the following repeated over and over and over....

 <Spanner type="HairPin">
            <HairPin>
              <subtype>0</subtype>
              <linkedMain/>
              </HairPin>
            <next>
              <location>
                <measures>4</measures>
                </location>
              </next>
            </Spanner>

I removed all of these and now the score loads with a few corruptions that can probably be ignored.
