Header Footer

If I use format/style header footer
1 a handy pop up is displayed showing various vairable things like $D (metatags?) but the pop up disappears of its own accord before I have had time to study it and there seems to be no way to force its reappearance.
2. The lower pain on the pop up show various valiues/things which are NOT preceded by a $ sign. How can these be used?
3. I cannot see a $ variable thing for part name, view to option to show same on each every page *not just the first page) of a part
4. I have asked elsewhere why an header-footer eist can be applied to all parts if but only if editing a part but not the whole score. Suppose I fancied having $D creation date in the footer of every page of the score and every part. I would to have to implement on the core and then on a part and then press apply to every part. Seems illogical.
Any work arounds?

Parts inherit the style settings from the score the moment you create them. So if there is a setting you are going to want in all parts as well as the score, simply make that setting before generating the parts. Normally generating parts would be something you don't do until towards the end of the process anyhow. But it's important for parts to be able to have style independent of the score, which is why after you've generated the parts, changes are not linked.
