Playback Disabled (I've tried everything and read through all old posts...)
Hi. My name is Nick. I've been using Musescore on and off for roughly 8 - 10 years. I used it for all of my compositions throughout college and my later work as well. A while back I opened it and updated it planning to write a notate a composition and found that the playback area was "greyed out" and I could not hear any instruments or play through a composition. I know this problem has been posted here before and everyone redirects the Poster to this link: https://musescore.org/en/node/96811
I went through every single step of that process. Nothing has helped. I've tried older versions of Musescore, I've reset to factory default, I reset my PRAM, I've spent hours scouring through old forum postings in an attempt to find an answer yet to no avail.
I honestly love working in Musescore more than the paid notation programs. So if anyone here is knowledgeable in this arena and willing to help, I'd be much obliged.
For all I know I've overlooked something stupidly simple. Who knows..
Oh. And I downloaded Sibelius First to see how the playback was. It works there just not in Musescore..
Specs:
Macbook Pro Retina (late-2015) (up to date with operating system)
Musescore 3.6.2
I've attached some screenshots as well.

Try going to audio settings in Finder/ Preferences. Make sure that MuseScore is selected.

Thanks for the response. I may be doing something wrong. I'm going into my System Preferences on my Mac but all I have to select for input and output are "internal microphone" and "internal speakers."

Windows has the native ability to adjust volume and mute/unmute apps. For a Mac, a 3rd party app is available from the Apple store. Perhaps MuseScore is muted on your system. You aren't using anything bluetooth, or an audio interface, are you?

I'll look into that. Do you have the name of the app? Nope. No bluetooth or audio interface.
Did you get playback to work after this post of yours?

Nope. This whole time I've never got it to work. I try then give up then try then give up. I re-download, re-install, skim though the forums. It's just so odd because it literally worked on this exact computer a year ago or so.. then bam, playback disabled and greyed out.

re-download and re-install is not part of the procedures and only rarely helps.

Of course. I was just saying I've tried everything. Do you have any suggestions? I'm at a loss.
