How to delete a part? What am I missing?
Attempting to do something really simple, delete a part from a score. I've followed the directions:
1. Selected Parts from the File menu
2. Selected relevant part in the parts pane (however, in order to do this I first have to click on the "All Parts" button to get a list of available parts.
3. I then select the part and click the "delete" button.
4. It "disappears" form the available parts list
5. But, once I click OK, the part has not really been deleted in the score.
If I repeat the process, I've noticed that when clicking the "All Parts" button the part I've previously "deleted" has mysteriously reappeared in the list. So, what am I missing here?

The "All parts" button generates all parts. Deleting one of them then just works for me.
It won't delete the instrument from the score, just the separate part
Can you share the score?

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't aware that the instrument and the it's part were separated. I now understand that the instrument has to be deleted as well.
To remove an instrument from the score, use menu item: Edit > Instruments... select it and "Remove from score".

Ah, this is what I was looking for. I obviously assumed when deleting a part, it was removing the instrument as well, but I guess they're broken a part for reason, so thanks.

Unfortunately part can mean different things. Similar for voice...

They are separate because sometimes you want a staff in your score even though there is no separate part for it. So the Parts dialog lets you control which instruments in your score have parts. But to actually remove the instruments, its the Instruments dialog you want. And removing the instrument automatically removes the part, so you don't need to do both - it's one or the other. Either you wish to keep the instrument in the score but remove its part, or you want to remove both. Removing the instrument from the score but keeping the part isn't really sensible, but you can mark it invisible in the score.
