Cannot tie cross-staff notes while in note input mode

In the attached score, all notes are cross-staff.
Select the first A, press N to enter note input mode and press + to add a tie. The second note unexpectedly moves to the top staff.
Do the same with the first G. The second note moves to the top staff and an incorrect tie appears between the first and third G notes.
The workaround is to exit note input mode before adding the tie.
