Musescore 4 creates duplets of the wrong length - dotted instead of straight quavers in a duplet in 12/8.

Works in Musescore 3.6
MS36.png

1) In 12/8 I am attempting to create a duplet of two quavers in the place of 3, one beat.

2 ) I select the rest of a dotted crotched and press ctrl-2 and it creates me two dotted quavers in a duplet instead of a quavers.

3) Have tried using the menu to create the duplet - same result.

4) Have tried selecting a crochet before turning into a duplet - this creates notes of the correct length but adds an incorrect rest MS4-2.png

FWIW, it's not so much a matter of right and wrong as there being subjectivity in the way tuplets can be notated in cases like this. Others want just quarter notes. I have a notion this might have been done deliberately, but best to ask about it on the Notation channel on the Discord server for MuseScore.

Regardless of which way the default ends up being, the way to get one of the others would be to set the ratio manually in Add / Tuplets/ Other. Except that doesn't seem to be working correctly right now. best to report issues with MU4 builds is on GitHub, as requested in the original "private" alpha announcement.
