Exporting parts for choir practice – is it possible in MS4?

• Dec 29, 2022 - 18:20

It doesn't seem possible to export parts the way we did it with MS3.6.

WHAT I HAVE

Files have been created with two parts and two staves: Trebles and Low voices:
– Treble key (G):
.....Voice 1: Soprano
.....Voice 2: Alto
– Bass key (F):
.....Voice 1 : Tenor
.....Voice 2 : Bass
That way, printing the full score is done with two staves rather than four.

In MuseScore 3.6, I could export each of the 4 voices individually. I clicked on "File –> Parts", entered a name (ex.: Unisson (one voice)), then selected "Treble – voice 1". Ditto for the three other voices.

In MuseScrore 4, it seems impossible to export only a single voice and get only "Treble – voice 1" on a score. What's worst, I notice that scores from MS 3.6 are converted by creating a new part at conversion time.

SOLUTION?
I haven't found a solution yet.
For new scores, I could always create the voices as four separate parts (S, A, T, B). But then, is it possible to combine them when exporting so I could export the full score using only two staves rather than four? So it seems I am "stuck" with MS 3.6.

Thanks for your answer, and sorry for the long delay; I had to take care of family health issues.

Unfortunately, the technique you presented doesn't work. You send me to a page where I can select voices; however, when I follow the instructions you provide, I don't see any way to select voices (see below).

In the photo https://musescore.org/sites/musescore.org/files/2022-03/show-hide-voice… it shows "Voices visible in the score", which I don't have.

The original score was prepared with MS 3.5 or 3.6 and converted into MS 4. When I click on notes, I see they are attached to "Voice 1" or "Voice 2" in the top bar.

I currently use MS 4.01 on Windows 10 (French).

If you view that "Unisson" part, you will see the voice buttons on the instruments panel. They only appear while viewing a part, not the score. So, simply create a new part in the Parts window (it will be empty by default), then use the Instruments panel to add the specific instruments/staves/voices you like. For more info see the rest of the info on the page I linked previously.
