Notes with leading or trailing ornaments don't sustain, falls on after-tie notes are ignored

• Aug 17, 2023 - 13:01

These issues may be entirely separate; my intuition is that they're connected.
These issues only affect certain Muse Sounds voices; list of confirmed voices is below.

  1. When a Muse Brass note is affected by a leading or trailing ornament (falls, scoops, etc; not grace notes) there seems to be a maximum sustain duration (about 1.5 seconds) and that's all you get. In addition to the lack of sustain, this can result in timing issues - a fall can occur drastically before it's intended, and a scoop appears to start on the beat, rather than leading into the beat as it should.

  2. "Plop" and "Slide in above" appear to not play at all on most Muse Brass. On Horn in F, they result in multiple notes being played at once for the duration.

  3. When a fall is on a tied note, it appears to be ignored. This seems to be voice-independent.

Issues 1. and 2. have been confirmed not to occur on Muse Woodwinds - Alto Sax.

Issue 3. does occur on Muse Woodwinds - Alto Sax.

Issues 1. and 3. have been confirmed on all Muse Brass voices, with the exception that Trumpet can sustain a full whole note before a fall (but still suffers issue 1. on leading ornaments and issue 3.)

Issue 2. has been confirmed on all low Muse Brass voices.

The attached score includes various examples and, where available, an instrument with the correct playback for comparison.
