Part names
I changed the part names to what I wanted. When I added another instrument, MuseScore changed all the part names back. Grr....

When I add another instrument it doesn't change the names of the existing instruments in Layout, it changes the names of the existing parts back to the names they have in the instrument selection list.
For example I change the name of "Alto Horn in E♭ 1" to "E♭ Horn 1" in Layout. Then I do the same in Parts. Then I add a trombone in Layout and the name of the "E♭ Horn 1" part changes back to "Alto Horn in E♭ 1"

As far as I'm concerned, I don't notice anything peculiar in the part names when adding an instrument (version 4.5.2, MacOS), see GIF below.
Either I've missed something, or it's something specific to your score (in which case, please attach it to understand what's going on).
