D.S. al Coda/To Coda issues

• May 14, 2025 - 02:25

Hello all. When I insert a "D.S. al Coda" mark, by dragging it to the end of the bar I want it to be, when I hit playback, it inexplicably waits one more bar before it will go back to the Segno sign. I have tried every variation I can think of and it will not jump back to the sign unless it beats through one more bar of silence. Then when I insert the "To Coda" sign, a 2/4 time signature is added, no matter what I try to do. I even moved the DS al Coda back two bars before I wanted it to jump to To Coda, and it still waited one additional bar after the correct bar.

I am unable to get either the "D.S. al Coda" or the "To Coda" to function properly. I do not know what I'm missing. Please advise.

Sorry, it's an original song and I cannot post it until the publisher says it's all right to do so. But, I think I am describing my steps quite accurately and as to why it is not responding correctly is a mystery. But I do appreciate you responding. If I'm supposed to take different steps, please let me know.

Ok, but you can post a demo with the same behavior.

When I set the "D.S. al Coda", the "To Coda" and the characters "Segno" and "Coda", I select the measure I want it to apply to and then click in the palette to select it. If this doesn't work for you, then the score has an error.

Don't drag. Select the measure you want the D.S. al Coda, then click it in the palette

Hello all. I appreciate your comments and attempts to help. I solved the problem by NOT dragging in the DS al Coda mark, for one, and when I added "To Coda" I selected the entire BAR, not just one note, to anchor "To Coda." Also, for reasons unknown to me, it stopped adding a blank bar before going back to the Segno. Probably dragging the DS al Coda into the bar was the issue. At any rate, all is fine now. THANK YOU!
