Using MIDI Remote Control disables chord input
Steps to reproduce:
[If you haven't already] assign special functions to some MIDI keys via the MIDI Remote Control.
1) In any score, go into Note Entry mode and enter some chords via a MIDI keyboard.
2) Now press one of your "special" MIDI keys (e.g. try to enter a rest)
3) Now try to enter another chord. The notes will be be split up.

Probably a duplicate of #40931: Using a note to change note length disables entering chords with MIDI, but since that specifically mentions duration shortcuts and this mentions rest shortcut, I thought I'd leave both open.
Yup, that's a duplicate and will be fixed in my PR if someone wants to merge it.
