Contents of palette vanished

I went to open a new file in MuseScore 2, and found that the Palette was totally empty. I tried the earlier instructions about pressing the Windows key and R to try to find the MuseScore.exe but my computer could not find it (I'm using an HP laptop run Windows 7). I have uninstalled and re-installed it but the Palette is still empty. Help!!! I'm trying to get a piece done for tomorrow.
