Crashes on startup
I can no longer run musescore 0.9.6, it crashes every time on startup.
I used it successfully for a week or so, then had a crash on startup, and now it crashes every time, even after uninstalling and reinstalling.
Windows XP/AMD PC.
Crash happens right after play panel appears (blank window)
Basic error info:
AppName: mscore.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: mscore.exe
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00161acc
I've never heard of an app not working after a re-install. I'm guessing the uninstall did not remove everything, or possible a soundfont got corrupted. I'll try again after I check the registry for any musescore keys that didn't get removed and delete them manually, then try another reinstall.

Additional info: Searched registry, removed all MuseScore keys and all TrollTech keys that had MuseScore subkeys. Restarted, reinstalled -- Still crashes the same way. Strange that the Play panel appears on a fresh install (I thought the default was for it to not appear). I'm stumped, I don't know what could be going on in the system that would have a completely fresh copy crash on startup.
Any suggestions appreciated. I'd like to get MS 0.9.6 working again -- it was a great improvement.
I have a two-display system with NVidia onboard and NVidia PCI xpress graphics adapters. Running Macafee real time virus scanner. Performing a complete system scan to see if anything turns up there.
In the handbook see Revert to factory settings
In the future please use the forums for support. If you discover the steps that caused it to start crashing at startup please share.
Thank you David!
Removing the .ini file (on XP it is found at %systemdir%/documents and settings/username/application data/MusE, by the way) and then reinstalling MuseScore solved the problem. I should have known a bad pref file was involved, but somehow I missed that folder. The information on removing an old .ini file may be useful for anyone who has trouble when installing a new version.
I should have known to ask about this in the forum rather than submit it as a bug report, since I didn't have steps to reproduce it. I'll use the right forum next time I have a problem.
Thanks again for getting me back to composing. Very much appreciate the fast response.
Thanks, I added the Window XP information to the handbook.
