What version is that, and what menu? On most systems, there is a "Help" menu within MuseScore that includes an "About..." item; no "About MuseScore" or "Quit MuseScore". I assume the above menu is some special Mac-generated menu; it does not exist in MuseScore itself. not sure if we have any control over how Mac generates its own private menus?

Title No ellipsis in "About MuseScore" menu command [Mac] Remove ellipsis from "About QT" and "About MusicXML" menu commands

Hmm. It is a Mac-generated menu, but it's to some degree within the control of the third-party developers; some applications (very rarely) don't have the "About (This App)" command at all. But I should have looked before I leaped—it's actually standard (on OS X) not to have the ellipsis for that item. I was confused by the fact that "About QT" and "About MusicXML" did have ellipses—which is a change from MuseScore 1.x, at least in the Mac version. I've changed the title of this issue correspondingly.

Guidelines on this seem inconsistent. Some say anything that popus up a dialog should display the ellipses; others say only modal dialogs or other windows that require actions to complete, others say "About" is special and should not have the ellipsis because no additional information is needed to complete the action.

"About..." on Windws / Linux *does* have the ellipsis, so we are consistent. Again, there is no "About MuseScore" in MuseScore; that's created by Apple, and my guess they don't use ellipsis when creating that menu item regardless of whether it was there in the original. But I have no idea how they go about doing this.

My sense is we should probably lose the ellipses for all three - About, About Qt, and About MusicXML. And hopefully Apple would follow suit, although again, I have no idea how they go about deciding which menu items to move to their own special menus.

For 2.0 those ellipsises had been added, because they open another dialog, removing them just to be consistent with that one Mac OS X 'About MuseScore' entry would-be asking too.much I think, so I'd rather close this as by design.
