Probably something went wrong during installation, like incompatible settings leftover from a previous version. See thye Handbook under "Revert to factory settings". If that doesn't work - but it probably will - please ask for help on the Support forum (eg, use Help / Ask for Help from within MuseScore) and say what OS< what soundfonts you see listed in View / Synthesizer, and what settings you see in Edit / Preferences / I/O.
