changing from grand staff to single staff line won't display bar lines in staff 2

I set up my music with the piano template. I started composing in an older software version, then installed the current 0.9.6.3 version mid-composition. I entered all the notes, but when I decided to add the lyrics, the grand staff lines are in the way. When I double-click and drag to shorten it, it looks perfect in staff 1 (trebel clef), but the bar line disappears in the staff 2 (bass clef). The file is attached.

Is there any way to make the bar lines appear in the bass clef? (Yes, I discovered that the template I actually wanted was hymn, not piano, so I won't make this mistake again.) I would rather not have to re-enter all my dynamics, key changes, and system text that don't copy and paste into a new score.
