Since I do not have any knowledge about writing or changing a plugin myself, maybe you can help me.
I would like to distinguish between the octaves, e.g. naming the low G as "G" and the 1-octave-higher G as "g". I am used to this notation as a Steel Drum player and would very apreciate to have this feature in the Note Names plugin! Thanks!

MuseScore (and MIDI) has more than just 2 octaves, so G and g doesn't really make much sense, but G3, G4 etc might be possible.
Actually, there are number of different octave naming conventions in common use, it could be worth offering a choice. One for examples use GGG, GG, G, g, gg, ggg, etc. Another uses commas and apostrophe. And even within the convention that uses numbers, there are different standards for how the octaves are numbered - eg, is middle C notated as C3, C4, or C5.
sounds good, but: would anyone be so eager to work on this for me? I really have ZERO knowledge about writing a plugin...
Adding the octave number is something I could look into, it probably is pretty straightforward.
And I'd use the same numbers as MuseScore does in the status line.
maybe then I could change it myself to the notation I want? Like e.g. to "g" instead of "G4"?
I just see that the code for adding the octave is already there, just commented out. So the only thing needed is to delete the "//" in front of that line
I think with that my job is done ;-)
found it, thanks!
Guess I can't change the letters within the plugin since it referres to the notation of musescore :-(
Anyway, thanks for helping!
